NZ Windfarms has announced the acquisition of the Hau Nui wind farm from Genesis Energy.

Hau Nui, located near Martinborough, is New Zealand's first wind farm, with a capacity of 8.65 megawatts.

The company said the acquisition will provide strategic and operational benefits, including access to a top-class wind resource and the opportunity to align maintenance and repowering activities with its Te Rere Hau wind farm.

NZ Windfarms also provided an update on its Te Rere Hau repower project, stating that it is now targeting a final investment decision in June 2025, 6 to 8 weeks later than originally planned.

The company is currently in the process of raising additional equity for the joint venture and has received positive interest from potential investors.

NZ Windfarms' development pipeline includes several greenfield wind development sites, with plans to reach a final investment decision for the Motorimu site by the end of 2029.

The company has also upgraded its ebitdaf guidance for the 2025 financial year.
