Ryman Healthcare has announced the appointment of David Pitman as an independent director and Dr Bernadette Eather as clinical advisor.

Pitman, a former aeronautical engineer, brings strategic and transformation experience to the board, along with hands-on knowledge of leading a large-scale retirement living business in Australia.

He will join the board on May 1 2024, replacing Geoff Cummings who is set to retire at the annual shareholder meeting.

Meanwhile, Eather, a highly regarded clinical governance professional, will join Ryman's clinical governance committee on April 2 2024.

She will replace Dr David Kerr, who is retiring on March 31 2024.

These appointments are part of the company's ongoing process of refreshing its board leadership, with four new directors appointed in the past year.

Ryman owns and operates 48 retirement villages in New Zealand and Australia, with 14,200 residents and 7,600 staff.
