Ryman Healthcare's group chief executive, Richard Umbers, has resigned and will be leaving the company.

Umbers' departure comes as chair, Dean Hamilton, takes on the role of executive chair.

Ryman's board has already begun the search for a new group CEO.

Umbers is leaving the company in accordance with his contractual terms.

Hamilton expressed gratitude to Umbers for his contribution and commitment to Ryman.

He also highlighted the company's focus on restoring financial performance and returns to shareholders.
