Seeka Limited has advised the market that a spring frost event occurred on 6 October 2022 in kiwifruit growing areas in the Waikato (including Coromandel), Katikati, Tauranga, Te Puke, Edgecumbe and Opotiki, impacting an estimated 3.5-4.0m class 1 trays.
Northland and Gisborne were unaffected.
Assessments are continuing to better understand the fruit loss as a consequence of this late frost, and Seeka will provide updates in due course.
