SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced its intention to file legal proceedings against Fletcher Building and The Fletcher Construction Company.
The claim seeks damages for losses incurred by SkyCity due to ongoing delays in the completion of the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) project.
The NZICC is now nearly six and a half years behind the contractually agreed delivery date of January 2019.
SkyCity alleges that Fletcher's breaches of contract, including those that caused a fire, constituted gross negligence.
The company claims it is entitled to over $330 million in liquidated damages.
SkyCity said it has made attempts to resolve the claims with Fletcher but was unable to reach an agreement.
