Sanford has announced the appointment of Thomas McClurg as an independent director, effective immediately.

McClurg, who is Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri, brings over 30 years of experience in primary sector natural resource management and policy roles in New Zealand.

He has held senior executive positions with the government, Te Ohu Kai Moana, Aotearoa Fisheries, Ernst & Young, and Landcorp Farming.

McClurg's appointment was welcomed by Sanford's chair, Sir Rob McLeod, who highlighted his governance and advisory experience in the primary industry.

McClurg will retire and seek election by shareholders at Sanford's 2024 annual shareholders' meeting.

The company's board has determined that he is an independent director for the purposes of the NZX Listing Rules.
