Westpac appoints new chief data officer

Westpac has announced the appointment of Dr Andrew McMullan as its new chief data, digital and AI officer.

McMullan, who previously served as the chief data and analytics officer at Commonwealth Bank, will be responsible for leading the bank's data analytics, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence initiatives.

He will report to Westpac chief executive Anthony Miller and is set to join the company in September 2025.

Westpac said McMullan's appointment aims to accelerate its strategic efforts in data analytics, digital innovation, and responsible AI.
