Synlait Milk Limited (Synlait) notes The a2 Milk Company’s announcement this morning that the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has exercised its discretion to allow The a2 Milk Company to import infant milk formula products into the US. Synlait will manufacture these products for The a2 Milk Company.

The FDA approval permits the temporary import of a2 Platinum® infant product (Stages 1 and 2) from New Zealand into the US from now until 6 January 2023. The a2 Milk Company is also able to supply Stage 3 toddler product in addition to this which does not require enforcement discretion.

Synlait Milk CEO Grant Watson commented: “We’re pleased to be able to support our customer, The a2 Milk Company, to deliver on this opportunity. Our teams have worked diligently to meet the FDA’s food safety and nutritional requirements. Given the difficult circumstances with infant formula shortages in the US, this is a pleasing result for us and US parents and caregivers.”

Synlait’s FY23 guidance remains unchanged.
