Restaurant Brand announces permanent appointment of Group Chief Executive Officer

Restaurant Brands New Zealand Limited (RBD) has today announced the permanent appointment of Arif Khan to the role of Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 September 2023.

Arif has been Acting Group CEO since 1 April 2023.

Arif brings extensive working knowledge of RBD’s operations and strategy to the role, having spent several years at RBD in his early career in a management role.

He returned to lead the RBD New Zealand business as CEO in 2018, and held the role of Global Chief Operating Officer from November 2022 until April 2023.

His extensive career spans more than 25 years in the hospitality and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) sectors across both Franchisor and Master Franchisee networks.

Restaurant Brands New Zealand Limited Chairman, José Parés, says Arif brings a wealth of knowledge, continuity and leadership experience to the Restaurant Brands Group CEO role.

“Arif is a skilled and trusted leader. He has a deep understanding of our sector, and a proven track record in the delivery of growth and innovation.”

“Alongside on-the-ground knowledge of RBD operations and our brands, Arif has extensive international experience in the leadership of large and successful QSR groups.”

“He has played a critical role in the growth of our New Zealand business and is particularly noted for his successful leadership through the COVID-19 period.”

“Arif has the right commercial acumen to lead the Group forward, both through the near-term challenges of the current inflationary environment, and in the delivery of long-term shareholder value.”
