GFI – Leadership restructure

Greenfern Industries Limited (NZX: GFI) (GFI) is restructuring its leadership with the appointment of Kirsten Taylor as Chair of GFI with support from former CEO of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Michael Barnett CNZM as an advisor to the company.

As well as being a director at GFI for the last two years Kirsten Taylor is the founder and CEO of SleepDrops, the number one brand in the sleep category in NZ health and pharmacy for 15 years in a row. She is a well-regarded entrepreneur. ‘I am excited for the future of Greenfern. Together with Michael as our valuable advisor and Elizabeth Plant as CEO, I believe a new and invigorated team will enable us to restore shareholder confidence. We expect that we shall complete our 17-week reset successful as previously announced and the Greenfern of next year will provide an excellent platform for the company to capitalise on select cultivars and enhance the potential commercialisation of its ground breaking soluble hemp protein product. There is much to do and much to look forward to’, said Kirsten.

Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and connections to the company. Kirsten and Michael have worked together successfully before with Kirsten being a director on the Auckland Business Chamber Board for 7 years under Michael’s leadership. Michael is a well-known champion of business ‘It has long been my passion to see businesses thrive. I am glad to be part of Greenfern’s transformational story’, Michael.

Paul Elliott also joins the board of GFI. Paul acted as advisor in the sectors of business recovery and turnaround, governance, while performing a number of major assignments as Chief Financial Officer or General Manager of significant New Zealand corporates, including Zespri, Metlifecare and Pacific Retail Group. More recently, he was also the former Chairman of the Audit Committee for Cooks Global Foods.

‘I am very please to join this dynamic company at a time when the industry is changing and opportunities are plenty’, said Paul.

Paul takes over as the GFI Chair of the Audit Committee from, as previously announced outgoing Audit Chair, Simon McArley with immediate effect.

Current Chairman Marvin Yee shall be leaving the board at this time as Non-Executive Director Kirsten Taylor will take the helm.



‘I have enjoyed my time at Greenfern, having been with the board since listing. My other work commitments have become more demanding next year as my travel schedule increases. It is now time for a new mantle of leadership to take place and I wish Kirsten and the new board every success’’, said Marvin.
