Australia had its largest-ever year for red meat exports in 2024, according to Meat & Livestock Australia.Increased production across the Tasman in recent seasons has weighed on farm gate prices in New Zealand, particularly for lamb and mutton.Australian sheep farmers benefited from favourable conditions in recent years that helped them build up their flocks.Sheep numbers were estimated to be at their highest in 15 years.However, dry conditions had led to destocking at pace, with increased amounts of product entering markets at cheap prices...
