After a rollout across 17 countries, and more than 18 months after its Australian launch, Google News Showcase is finally here in New Zealand. Google has unveiled a platform that will pay publishers for selected news content, a move years in the making, and no doubt music to the ears of early recipients including RNZ, Newsroom, NZME, and BusinessDesk.The announcement comes as political pressure against Google and Meta/Facebook intensifies. For years, the two companies have been criticised for hosting news stories on their platforms, d...
