With the government and others increasingly enthusiastic about the future of hydrogen, Meridian Energy says its plans for one of the world’s largest hydrogen production plants will only go ahead if the economics stand up.This will mean having a concrete long-term customer for hydrogen or any of its byproducts willing to pay a reasonable price for electricity for the Southland plant and reduce or even stop production when hydro lakes are low.The government set aside millions of dollars in last week’s budget to develop a hydrogen road...
