Huntly Power Station: Genesis, BT Mining do deal to supply local coal

Genesis Energy has struck a two-year deal with New Zealand mining company BT Mining to supply 240,000 tonnes of coal to Huntly Power Station to bolster its coal stockpile.The deal is significant because while most of Huntly’s coal is currently sourced from Indonesia, this agreement will provide a significant portion from a domestic mine.Huntly burns about 300,000 to 500,000 tonnes of coal in a typical year.
