New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited (NZAS) has teamed up with local iwi to restore the land around its Tiwai Point aluminium smelter.Murihiku Rūnaka and Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu signed an agreement with NZAS on Friday at Te Rau Aroha marae in Bluff. Under the agreement, all parties have agreed to work on plans to remove waste, conduct environmental monitoring and remediate the Tiwai Point site.NZAS chief executive Chris Blenkiron said in a statement that iwi guidance would be invaluable for the work.“This agreement reinforces the co...
