Port of Tauranga says it has managed to cut its mountain of stacked import containers by about two-thirds to 1,500, and KiwiRail helped by ramping up its delivery schedule to more than 90 trains a week into MetroPort.Last month, Tauranga had more than 5,300 containers stacked at its terminal, as vessels bypassed Auckland and KiwiRail cut its contract with the port to as low as 62 trains per week, citing a lack of rolling stock. “But we’re actually in pretty good shape now,” chief executive Mark Cairns told BusinessDesk, w...
