Big power users' club seeks new renewable generation bids

Major power users including Fonterra and New Zealand Steel have invited developers of new renewable generation to submit proposals to supply them. The companies, which include Pan Pac Forest Products, Oji Fibre Solutions and Ballance Agri-Nutrients, have spent the past 10 months working with the Major Electricity Users’ Group to test whether a long-term power purchase contract for part of their combined load could incentivise new investment at a material scale.
