Cairns to leave Port of Tauranga; successor named

Port of Tauranga has named Leonard Sampson to replace chief executive Mark Cairns when he leaves the business in June next year. Sampson, formerly the port’s commercial manager, has been chief operating officer since September 2019. Before joining the port in 2013 he held senior roles with KiwiRail, Toll Group, Carter Holt Harvey and Mainfreight. Cairns has run the Port of Tauranga for the past 15 years.
