Marsden Point plans production halt in July, August

The Marsden Point oil refinery is to stop production for several weeks from late July to help clear surplus fuel stocks around the country. The plant has been operating at about half capacity the past two months, minimising production by running units on a rotating basis. It now plans to put all units on standby for “several weeks” in July and August to “balance fuel supply across the country.” National fuel demand fell by about 80 percent when the country went into lockdown late March to contain the spread of covid-19.
