After sitting empty since the earthquakes, strengthening work will start this year on one of Christchurch’s biggest office blocks.Huadu International Group bought the former Inland Revenue (IRD) building, on the corner of Madras and Cashel streets, in November 2020 for an undisclosed sum, along with two adjoining buildings: a car parking building and a commercial building called the Chambers.Owned by the Wang family, Huadu is a large development and construction company in China.
