OMV makes 'exciting' offshore Taranaki gas find

OMV has reported gas and liquids in the final well of its recent offshore drilling campaign.Full testing wasn’t able to be completed because of the covid-19 lockdown, but the company said the well, drilled to a depth of more than four kilometres, showed hydrocarbons in several layers of sandstones.Gabriel Selischi, OMV’s senior vice president for Australasia, said although it was still very early in the exploration process the discovery had the potential to be a significant result for the company in New Zealand.“If future appraisal activities c...
