Ports of Auckland gets sign-off for deeper shipping lane

Auckland Council has granted consent for Ports of Auckland to deepen its Rangitoto shipping channel to cater for larger ships despite vocal opposition to the plan. The port notified its consent application last November for the staged programme, which will allow for the entry of 366-metre Panamax container vessels into the country's second-largest container terminal.
