Transpower has put out a formal request for information as it starts on the long process to replace and upgrade one of the most critical parts of New Zealand’s infrastructure – the Cook Strait power cable.The state owned enterprise, which runs the national grid, has asked interested parties for information on what to do when the high voltage direct current (HVDC) link connecting the North and South Islands comes to the end of its life.Also being factored into its thinking is the need to upgrade the capacity as the electricity genera...
