A proposed law bringing in a pecuniary interests register for local authority members is being extended to also cover those elected to councils’ local and community boards, but won't shine a light on their holdings in this year's election. The Local Government (Pecuniary Interests Register) Amendment Bill has been reported back from select committee with several changes.The member’s bill is in the name of Labour MP Tangi Utikere, so unless there is a change of heart within the Labour government, it should pass later thi...
