NZ branch of global law firm cuts pay by up to 30%

DLA Piper has cut partner draws, and reduced staff pay by up to 30 percent to avoid redundancies in response to the expected economic downturn from covid-19. And its country head has suggested it wouldn’t take the government wage subsidy even if it qualified. The move by the globally networked firm came amid controversy as half of New Zealand’s big six law firms received the subsidy, only to later return it, saying they didn’t actually qualify.
