Air New Zealand will make direct flights for the first time to the heart of China’s Pearl River Delta manufacturing hub, the city of Guangzhou, although it will be a cargo-only service.The new service is one of 55 to qualify for the second round of government-subsidised air freight contracts keeping NZ perishable food and other exports in global markets following the virtual collapse of international aviation due to the covid-19 pandemic.The new Guangzhou service is notable as services will fly direct from Christchurch rather than Aucklan...
