Major cinema chains operating in New Zealand have posted poor annual results, reflecting poor consumer sentiment at the time.  Australian-owned Hoyts, which has 11 theatres in NZ, reported a profit drop from $2.5 million to $477,844 for calendar 2024.The cinema chain's revenue for the period was $63.2m, a small decline from $63.6m the year before.Expenses increased from $43.1m to $45.7m in calendar 2024.“The 2024 calendar year was a challenging year for the company following a disappointing result at the box office.
