MARKET CLOSE: NZ shares edge up to new record; Fletcher extends gain

By Paul McBeth Aug. 17 (BusinessDesk) - New Zealand shares edged up to a new record as stocks across Asia rose in a relatively quiet earnings day domestically, with Fletcher Building extending its gain after yesterday's result while Skellerup climbed on its increased profit.  The S&P/NZX 50 index rose 16.72 points, or 0.2 percent, to 7,870.06, a new record close.
