The New Zealand dollar stuck to a tight range with the short-term focus now on today’s speech by Reserve Bank of Australia’s governor Philip Lowe and Chinese inflation data. The kiwi was trading at 65.52 US cents at 8am in Wellington from 65.49 cents at 5pm. The trade-weighted index was at 72.40 from 72.39. “With no major data or market related headlines, the world’s financial assets basically tread water overnight,” said Kiwibank trader Mike Shirley.
