NZ dollar mixed; shrugs off data, coronavirus news

The New Zealand dollar was largely unmoved by either local or offshore economic data or the worsening coronavirus pandemic in the United States. The kiwi was trading at 65.62 US cents at 5pm in Wellington from 65.49 cents at the same time yesterday while the trade-weighted index was at 72.22 from 72.07. Data released locally today showed deflation of 0.5 percent in the June quarter, with the nation in lockdown for much of those three months, taking the annual inflation rate to 1.5 percent, down from 2.5 percent in the year ended March....
