Annual sick leave allowances will be changed by law from a minimum of five to 10 days in new legislation to be introduced to Parliament before Christmas and which should come into force in mid-2021.As a sop to employers, who fear the cost of increased absences, rules on how much sick leave can be carried into following years will stay the same, at no more than 20 days.Trade unions pushed for the move in response to covid-19, which required a 14-day self-isolation period for anyone suspected of carrying the virus.The move is also intended to mak...
