Dairy boosts exports through covid-19

Provisional data show goods exported from New Zealand rose 4.5 percent to $4.9 billion between Feb. 1 and April 15 compare to the same period a year earlier, while imports fell 9.9 percent to $4.3 billion.This amounts to a monthly trade surplus of $594 million, according to Stats NZ, which has been providing weekly updates to show the potential impact of covid-19.The dairy sector led the rise in exports with milk powder, butter, and cheese up 15 percent at $1.5 billion.Exports of other commodities, such as logs, seafood and meat, fell.
