Westpac appoints chief executive

Westpac has appointed Peter King, former chief financial officer, as the bank’s chief executive for a term of two years. Westpac chairman John McFarlane said in moments of global stress and uncertainty, stability and strength were vital. King will be paid an initial base salary of $2.4 million, plus incentive packages.
