NZ dollar gains as greenback falls on weaker manufacturing ISM report

By Jonathan Underhill Sept. 2 (BusinessDesk) - The New Zealand dollar gained as the US dollar index declined following a weaker-than-expected ISM manufacturing report while the market looks ahead to tonight's key non-farm payrolls report for clues on the timing of US interest rate hikes. The kiwi rose to 72.80 US cents as at 8am in Wellington from 72.51 cents late yesterday. The trade-weighted index gained to 77.55 from 77.43.
