NZ dollar heads for 1.9% weekly gain vs. euro as SNB action seen signalling QE
By Paul McBeth Jan. 16 (BusinessDesk) - The New Zealand dollar is heading for a 1.9 percent weekly gain against the euro after a surprise move by the Swiss National Bank stoked speculation the European Central Bank will embark on a major money printing exercise when it meets next week. The kiwi rose to 67.40 euro cents at 5pm in Wellington, having reached a record 67.54 cents today, from 66.15 cents on Friday in New York last week, and up from 65.52 cents yesterday.
