A client of ACC who was taxed at the highest tax bracket on a lump-sum payment – rather than on an accrual basis – has had her challenge dismissed in the high court.Justice Neil Campbell said those were the rules and any change had to come from parliament.In November 2017, Veronica Hoeberechts received a lump-sum payment from ACC of roughly $188,000 following an injury in 2014.The payment came after a decision in the district court, overturning ACC’s view of Hoeberechts’ entitlement, which backdated payments she should h...
