NZ dairy sector to tap into $1b of new agri funding

In a bold move, agri-finance company StockCo Capital has launched a new dairy herd leasing service that will allow farmers to tap into $1 billion of new investment as they struggle to raise capital. “It is no secret financial institutions are becoming increasingly cautious about farm lending,” StockCo Capital general manager Will Purvis said.   The Reserve Bank has also been encouraging banks to act prudently with farm lending, viewing the sector's high debt levels as a financial stability risk, despite firm milk prices. Agricultural debt...
