Meat companies Silver Fern Farms and Alliance Group are reporting a “dramatic lift" in livestock numbers waiting to be processed as their plants are down to half capacity under covid-19 rules.In a note to its suppliers yesterday, Silver Fern Farms said queue times at its 14 plants had been extended “exponentially” as suppliers booked early to avoid congestion and because of colder weather and diminished feed stock.The country's largest processor and exporter of red meat said suppliers could be waiting between three and six weeks for space, depe...
