Mounting multi-unit development in Auckland continued to increase housing consent numbers in May, bringing the annual total of new approvals in the city to 18,565, up 28% on the prior 12 months.Of the national total of 4,180 dwellings consented for the month, 1,380 were either townhouses, flats or units, with 241 apartments and 138 retirement village units also getting sign off.Stats NZ said that was the highest number of attached homes consented for any May in 31 years, helping push the annual national total to 43,466 new homes, the highest nu...
