Retailers using Eftpos machines with outdated security standards have been warned that they have one year to upgrade or face disconnection from the network.Merchants were told in 2017 that April 30, 2026, was the deadline to upgrade from the PCI 4.x security standard. The devices will "be non-compliant and subject to disconnection" after that date.
