Four hundred marae have now been outfitted with broadband under the government’s marae digital connectivity programme.The milestone 400th location is Ōmāio marae in the Bay of Plenty, which has received Wi-Fi, TV, security cameras, and networking equipment along with its permanent internet connection.The added mobile signal booster means people don’t have to climb up a hill behind the marae to get phone reception.According to Ōmāio marae representative Maxie Kemara, one of the simple benefits is “just being able to have that h...
