RBNZ confirms data breach occurred on Christmas Day

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has confirmed it was hacked on Dec. 25, five days after a patch was available to fix the vulnerability.The breach of third-party software supplier Accellion’s legacy FTA file transfer software has embarrassed the RBNZ, with confidential customer data downloaded. The resulting slow drip of information from both the bank and Accellion means some specific details are still unknown, and some will not be disclosed until an independent review by KPMG is complete.In a statement addressing questions posed by B...
