RBNZ says it was notified five days into data breach

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand said it had “no warning” from its software partner prior to a December data breach.The bank first reported on Jan. 10 that it was responding to a “malicious” data hack, but no specific time period for the duration of the breach has been confirmed.Accellion’s FTA file transfer software, a 20-year-old legacy product, had a vulnerability that hackers exploited allowing the illegal downloading of RBNZ customer files.“We had no warning to avoid the attack which began in mid-December...
