A clear majority of American consumers expect US President Donald Trump’s tariffs to produce a recession, according to polling by New Zealand-based global polling service Stickybeak.Some 53% of a random sample of 1,000 Americans told the Stickybeak chatbot pollster that they expected the Trump tariffs would produce a recession, 56% expected it to produce an economic slowdown, and 71% expected imported goods to become more expensive for US consumers.Higher inflation was an expectation of 60%.
