Westpac cuts some slack for bankrupt customers

Westpac New Zealand is abandoning “outdated” policies that saw bankrupt people lose their bank accounts in favour of a more flexible approach.The change follows a report called Access to Banking in Aotearoa, which the bank released in April 2022 that looked at the barriers to banking.Louisa Brock, Westpac’s manager for customer vulnerability and financial inclusion, a job title she took on four years ago, said: "The conversations at barbecues are always a little bit funny when people ask me what I do for work."Last y...
