RBNZ told to upgrade hacked file sharing software in 2017

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand was advised in 2017 to upgrade its recently hacked file sharing software but declined in a decision industry sources say was based on cost. It is this software hackers exploited, resulting in the leak of sensitive data the RBNZ disclosed on Jan. 10. The central bank has not confirmed the date of its breach, but on Jan. 22 said the information accessed in the breach “may include some commercially and personally sensitive information.” An external review by KPMG is underway. The Australia...
