Air New Zealand has announced an update to its earnings guidance for the 2023 financial year, expecting earnings before other significant items and taxation to be no less than $580 million.

This is higher than the prior guidance range of $510 million to $560 million given in April, due to stronger ongoing demand than usually observed at this time of the year, and US dollar jet fuel prices consistently below those assumed in the April guidance.

The airline is investing approximately $3.5 billion in aircraft and retrofitting over the next five years, but is mindful of the uncertain economic environment it is facing into, with more capacity entering the market in the coming months.
