Anita Johansen has been appointed as a director of Blis Technologies, effective from 1 January 2024.
She will be replacing Dr Jörn Andreas, who is set to retire from the board on 31 December 2023.
Johansen currently serves as the CEO of Probi AB, a position she took on in March 2023 after joining the company as Vice President of Research & Development in April 2022.
She brings with her extensive experience in product development of science-based supplements containing probiotics, having held leadership positions in companies such as Ferrosan, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, Novozymes OneHealth, and USP Zdrowie.
However, it is important to note that the board has determined Johansen to be not an independent director due to her role as the CEO of Probi AB, which is a substantial product holder of Blis Technologies.
As a result, she will need to offer herself for re-election as a director at the company's 2024 annual shareholders' meeting.
Geoff Plunket, the board chair, expressed pleasure in welcoming Johansen to the board and highlighted her scientific expertise, probiotic experience, and business acumen.
He also acknowledged the significant contribution of Dr Jörn Andreas over the past year, noting his invaluable international experience from senior executive and governance roles in large multinational companies.
Blis Technologies is a New Zealand-based manufacturer of advanced probiotic strains.
