Auckland Airport has announced it will discount its prices for airline passenger charges for the final two years of the Price Setting Event 4 (PSE4) period.
The decision comes after the Commerce Commission's final report, which confirmed that the airport's planned investment was reasonable and in line with other global airports.
The report also found the airport's investment had cost rigour applied to it and followed an appropriate consultation process.
As a result of the price discounting, the targeted return for the 2023-2027 pricing period will be 7.82%, within the range deemed reasonable by the commission.
Auckland Airport's chief executive, Carrie Hurihanganui, said the decision to discount prices was a reflection of the regulatory regime working as intended.
The airport is currently one of Auckland's busiest construction sites, with the integrated terminal programme 31% advanced and over 1000 people employed on the project.
