Chatham Rock Phosphate Limited has applied for an exploration permit for the 6 square kilometre Korella North area in Queensland, Australia.

Previous exploration in the area in 2007 and 2008 proved the presence of outcropping rock phosphate, a mineral resource suitable for open cut mining.

The application comes after the successful application for an area of 196 square kilometres (Korella South) in December 2021.

Limited additional drilling and analysis within the area looks to enable a JORC-compliant resource estimate for phosphate and rare earth elements (REE) to be reported and transition to a Mining Lease to take place in a short time frame.

Chatham's wholly-owned Australian subsidiary, Avenir Makatea Pty Ltd., made the application, with Pacific Rare Earths Limited (PRE) managing and leading the rare earths facet of the Korella leases.
